Premium Safety Features of 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

As the premium name in luxury sprinter vans, Mercedes-Benz puts out a new model for their Sprinter each year. At Warner Vans of Utah, we’re proud to offer several new and used Mercedes models when you browse our wide selection of new and used sprinter vans.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter model has been unveiled for several months, and is now on the road as well. As you’d expect, it comes with much of the high-end luxury and innovation you’d expect – and also with several high-quality safety features, and area Mercedes is known for. In particular, there are several driver assistance features to consider. Let’s look at a few of the most prominent safety features to be aware of.

Lane Assist

Termed Active Lane Assist by Mercedes, this is a feature that allows drivers to stay in their lane if they accidentally drift into another. It’s a feature that’s becoming more and more common in many vehicle types, but is particularly valuable for larger vehicles with less room in their individual lanes. The system is able to make small, barely noticeable changes in your steering and braking to help you maintain proper lane position and avoid any incidents.

Brake Assist

Mercedes-Benz’s Active Brake Assist system is designed to sense the possibility of an accident before it takes place, stopping it ahead of time. It uses motion sensors and advanced technology to monitor the surroundings as you drive, and can take control of your brakes and apply them as needed if it senses you or the vehicle is in danger.

Distronic Plus

This is an adaptive cruise control system designed to eliminate some of the flaws present in previous versions of this technology. Most older cruise control systems don’t involve motion sensors at all – if the cruise speed causes the vehicle to go too fast and rear-end another because the driver isn’t paying attention or can’t brake on time, an accident takes place.

With the DISTRONIC PLUS and similar systems, however, this risk is eliminated. Motion sensors are used along with speed regulation and proximity control to maintain a safe distance between your Sprinter and the vehicle in front of you while you’re in cruise control.

Attention Assist

Not only does Mercedes’ tech help make you safer, it can actually learn your driving habits and sense when you might be tired or fatigued. During these periods, it will make a few small safety tweaks, plus alert you to stop driving in some extreme cases.

Traffic Sign Assist

This tool can actually recognize posted traffic signs for you, displaying them on your dashboard or instrument cluster as desired. It’s always good to have that little extra reminder here.

Crosswind Assist

If you regularly drive the Sprinter in any high-wind areas, the Crosswind Assist feature will be very helpful. It uses sensors that predict wind gusts, then uses targeted braking to help counter the weight of the wind and keep your vehicle stable.
